Sheldon P. Hoffman, Sr., age 88 years, of Ringoes, NJ (East Amwell Township), died Saturday, August 28, 2004 in Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in High Bridge, NJ, August 2, 1916, son of the late Pardon and Betsy Sutton Hoffman, he had formerly resided in Flemington, NJ, then in Hartford, CT for twenty-seven years, then in Phillipsburg, NJ for twelve years and in Ringoes, NJ sinch March 2004.
He was first employed by R. Hoe Foundry, Dunellen, NJ, then owned Cedar Craft Fence Co., Flemington, NJ and lastly operated the Candy Caboose Stores in Turntable Junction, Flemington, NJ and in Heritage Village, Hartford, CT.
He was formerly an active member and officer in the N.J. Knights of Pythias; was a life member of the Flemington Firemens Relief Association; and was also a member of the Flemington Firemens Exempt Association.
His wife, Jennie Pedrick Hoffman, died in 1989. Surviving are a son, Sheldon P. Hoffman, Jr. of Ringoes, NJ; a daughter, Judith Anderson of Union Beach, NJ; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Please visit www.holcombefisher.com for further information or to send condolences.
