Siria A. Fernandez

Siria A. Fernandez, age 93 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Wednesday, September 7, 2016, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, NJ.

Born in Cuba, November 9, 1922, daughter of the late Serafin Alfonso and Josefa Sanchez, she had formerly resided in Nutley and Newark, NJ.

Siria received a doctorate degree in pharmacy and worked as a pharmacist in Cuba before moving to the United States. She also worked for ITT in Nutley, NJ and Westinghouse, Newark, NJ.

She is pre-deceased by her brother Serafin Alfonso in 2001.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Luis and Lois Fernandez of Ft. Myers, FL; her siblings, Sergio Alfonso of Miami, FL and Servia Reyes of Flushing, NY; three grandchildren, Ronnie Fernandez Lee and her husband David, Louis Fernandez and his wife Lea, and Sharon Fernandez Holmes and her husband Floyd, and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private.
