Sivida I. Mendez

Sivida I. Mendez, age 92 years, of Hillsborough Township, NJ, died Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the All-American Assisted Living at Hillsborough.

Born in Arroyo de Mantua, Pinar del Rio, Cuba, May 15, 1929, daughter of the late Cesar Pulido and Adela Hernandez Pulido, she had formerly resided in Irvington, NJ.

Sivida was a graduate of Havana University where she received a degree in nursing. An avid parishioner of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, Sivida was also a volunteer at the Flemington-Raritan Senior Center and volunteer at the Flemington Food Pantry.

She is pre-deceased by her husband, Miguel Mendez in 2018; siblings, Nery Cuesta, Soledad Miranda, Adela Pulido, Rolando Pulio, Cesar Pulido, and Antonio Pulido.

Surviving are two sons, Denis Mendez, of Three Bridges, NJ and Edwin Mendez, of Whitehouse Station, NJ; five grandchildren, Amanda, Ricardo, Karissa, Kassandra, and Jeremiah Mendez all of Whitehouse Station, NJ; two brothers, Sergio Pulido and Augusto Pulido, both of Miami, FL; four sisters, Julia Beatrice, Tomasa Cano, Rebecca Arocha and Luisa Fernandez, all of Miami, FL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home.
