Sol Karrow, age 87 years, of Flemington, NJ, died on Thursday, May 19, 2005, at his residence.
Born in New York City, October 25, 1917, son of the late Benjamin and Annie Feigenbaum Karrow, he had resided in Flemington since 1923.
He owned and operated Karrow's Men's Store, Flemington, NJ (a family business), starting with his father in 1934 and operating the store until retiring in 1994.
A 1934 graduate of Flemington High School, Mr. Karrow was an Air Force Veteran of World War II. A member of the Flemington Boro Council 1963-1980, he was also a former member of the Flemington Board of Adjustment.
Mr. Karrow was a charter member of the Flemington Elks Lodge; a member of the Flemington Lions Club; the Masonic Lodge in Elizabeth, NJ; the Crescent Temple Shrine, Trenton, NJ; and the Hunterdon County Shrine Club. Additionally, he was an avid attender of the Lindbergh Trial, Flemington, NJ in 1935.
He was Past Commander of Flemington American Legion Post #159 and was also a member of the Jewish War Veterans.
He was formerly director of the Town & Country Bank and the Flemington Savings & Loan, both located in Flemington, NJ.
His wife, Adele Musicant Karrow, died in 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Joy Coleman of Brainbridge, PA and Hunterdon County Freeholder Marcia Karrow of Flemington, NJ; and a sister, Lucille Sherman of Silver Spring, MD.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in the Flemington Jewish Community Cemetery, Flemington, NJ.
