Sophie B. Cvetan

Sophie B. Cvetan, age 94 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Hillsborough, NJ. Born in Bound Brook, NJ, May 14, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Agnes Koziol Kuzniar. A homemaker, she was a member of the Columbiettes at St. Alphonsus Church, Hopewell, NJ. Sophie married her husband Steven Cvetan on May 20, 1945. Sophie was a member of the Amwell Valley Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the East Amwell Seniors Group. An avid baker, she enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking for her family and friends. Sophie could be seen out on her riding mower taking care of her lawn and planting flowers. When she was not baking, she loved to go out to the casino with Steve. She is pre-deceased by her husband Steven Cvetan in 2002 and one sister, Angela Klapansky. Surviving are her two daughters, Jane Collins and her husband, Dan of Ringoes, NJ, and Barbara Kalogera and her husband, Larry of Wyckoff, NJ; one sister, Julia Wielenta; grandchildren, Jeanette Hallett and her fiancé Ted Decker, James Scott Bevis, Tammi Powell and her husband, Matt, Mindi Bachhuber and her husband, Nic, Aimee Sands and her husband, Brian, and Molly Flores and her husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Arielle and her husband, Jay, Devon, Tori, Josh, Annabelle, Evie, Nicholas, Emily, Jason, Millicent, Sophie and Eleanor; four great-great-grandchildren, Shane, Aria, Noah and Jonathan; five step-grandchildren, Kathy Fawcett and husband, Kevin, Kim Bellavia and her husband, Mike, Wendy and her husband, Andre, Donna and her husband, Kenny, DeAnne Rypkema and her husband, Jeremy and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her beloved care giver, Terry Ragolia, the kind staff at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, the Amwell Valley Ambulance Corps, and the folks at Anita's Angels, who all cared for Sophie. A private graveside service will be held in Highland Cemetery, Hopewell, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
