Stella Zilavetz, age 91 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Pat Szabo on Sunday, January 20, 2013.
She was born in Charleroi, Pa., December 6, 1921, daughter of the late Stanislaw and Wlada Niwiadomy Dera, and had resided most of her life in Avenel, NJ before moving to East Amwell Township in 2010.
Stella was a US Army veteran of World War 2, where she met her husband, Warrent Officer Steve Zilavetz. She served in North Africa and Italy. She was also employed over twenty-five years with RCA, Avenel, NJ.
A former communicant of St. Andrew's Catholic Church of Avenel, Stella enjoyed cooking, candy making, baking, sewing, crocheting and knitting.
Her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Steve, died in 1999 and a grandson, Eric Szabo, in 2009. She was also pre-deceased by three brothers, Chester, Zigmund and Edward and a brother-in-law,Richard.
Surviving are a daughter, Pat Szabo of Ringoes, NJ; a grandson, Jason Szabo of Woodbridge, NJ; and a great grandson, Aaron Szabo of 29 Palms, CA.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 12 Noon in Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
