Stephen Phillip Bast, Jr.

Stephen "Darth Vader" Phillip Bast Jr., age 47, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 in New Jersey due to an accident. Steve was born on April 19, 1968 in Alton, IL, a son of the late Stephen Phillip Bast Sr., and Virginia Ardell (Angle) Bast. Steve was a United States Navy veteran who proudly served his country. He worked for Steelman Transportation in Springfield, MO as an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed driving his semi "Sirius Black", fishing, collecting guns, watching and attending Nascar races. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Steve will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Steve is survived by his loving daughter, Ashley (Dustin Holmes) Bast of Granite City, IL; dear brothers, Jeffrey (Tyra Saunders) Bast of Ramsey, IL and Roy Eldridge of Bismark, MO; nephew, Tyler Bast of Texarkana, AR; grandcat, Piper Anne; extended family and many dear friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL. In celebration of his life, funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday with Pastor Charles West officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
