Steve H. Balik, age 79 years, of Ringoes, NJ, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sandbrook, NJ, September 19, 1934, he was the son of the late Stefan and Marya Baczynsky Balik.
A Flemington High School class of 1953 graduate, Steve was a United States Army Veteran. He worked for over forty years as a gas pipeline operator for Duke Energy, formerly Texas Eastern Transmission, Mt. Airy, NJ. He also worked as a realtor for various agencies in Hunterdon County.
A communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, Steve was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a Mets and Giants Fan. A former softball pitcher for Sandy Ridge Softball, he was a former President of the Lambertville Lions Club.
He is pre-deceased by siblings, Amelia Guistino, Anton Balik, and Frances Balik.
Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-six years, Carol Balik of Ringoes, NJ; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Cynthia Prall Balik of Sterling, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mark Hurban of Flemington, NJ; six grandchildren, Steven C. Balik of Brooklyn, NY, Brian and Allison Balik both of Sterling, VA, and Mark, Christopher, and Scott Hurban of Flemington, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, June 7, 2014, at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will follow in St. Magdalen Mausoleum under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Steve's name to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
