Susan Kopp

Susan Kopp, of Union Township, Hunterdon County, NJ died Saturday, April 3, 2021 in St. Luke’s Hospital – Anderson Campus, Bethlehem, PA. She was 87.

Born in Weilau, Romania on April 11, 1933, Susan and her family immigrated to the United States in 1952. She was the eldest daughter of the late Michael and Susanna Botscher Kessel, who settled in Pittstown, NJ.

Susan married Richard R. Kopp in 1961, and they made their home in Pattenburg. Richard died in 2011, just before their 50th wedding anniversary.

A homemaker, Susan was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flemington, NJ, and then Spruce Run Lutheran Church in Glen Gardner, NJ, where she was an avid quilter. Susan was an exceptional cook and baker, specializing in German dishes, and she was as adept at preparing a feast for 70 as she was at putting dinner on the table for her family every evening. In addition to quilting, Susan loved to sew, and her family and friends were the recipients of many of her handmade heartfelt gifts over the years. She will be lovingly remembered for her kind and generous spirit, and her quick and easy laugh.

In addition to her husband, Susan was also predeceased by three brothers, Michael, George, and Erwin Kessel, and a great-grandson, Joshua.

Susan is survived by her three children, Linda Kopp, of South Salem, NY, Richard J. Kopp (Beth), of Raphine, VA, and Sherry Kopp Wright (Rick), of Lambertville, NJ; her eight grandchildren, Melissa, Sarah, Christian, and Adriana Kopp, Jeff and Brittany Jamison, and Joe and Andy Wright; her great-grandchildren, Teddy and Liam; her siblings, John Kessel of Reilingen, Germany, Kathy Kessel of Edison, NJ, Samuel Kessel of Pittstown, NJ, Jack Kessel of Frenchtown, NJ, Rose Coraci of Flemington, NJ, and Fred Kessel of Milford, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 10th, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington, NJ. A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 11th, at 12:00 pm at Locust Grove Cemetery in Quakertown, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home.
