Susan Buchanan Miller, age 77 years, a life-long Flemington area resident, passed away the evening of Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Somerville, NJ, October 29, 1947, she was the daughter of the late W. Orville and Mary (Percy) Buchanan.
Susan was a 1966 graduate of Hunterdon Central Regional High School and went on to graduate from the University of Vermont with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics.
Susan was the former Flemington Borough Clerk for several years and later was an assistant to the Hunterdon County Clerk. She was also a former member of the Hunterdon County Board of Elections.
Always eager to take on responsibilities, she was a member, elder, and deacon of the Flemington Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the hand bell choir there. Additionally, she was a long-time member and volunteer of the Hunterdon County 4-H Sheep Club, where she was the club’s leader for 52 years. In fact, she enjoyed raising hundreds of Hampshire Sheep in her lifetime. Moreover, she was a long-time member of the Flemington Woman’s Club, and a committee chair of Boy Scout Troop 194.
Aside from volunteering her time, in her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and always loved watching football. A determined, big-hearted, and generous woman, she will be remembered most as a family woman and someone who always brought people together.
Surviving is her husband of fifty years, Bruce P. Miller, of Raritan Township, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Geneva and Rick Quattrock, of West Reading, PA; a son, James Miller, of Raritan Township, NJ; one grandson, Steven Quattrock; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Mary Bruce Buchanan, of Raritan Township, NJ, a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Rob Sheneman, of Raritan Township, NJ; as well as her nieces and nephews and their significant others, Cheryl Wegner (Chris), Erin Ellis, David Sheneman (Danielle), Matthew Sheneman (Nicole), Andrew Sheneman (Kayla), and Benjamin Sheneman (Jake).
Memorial services, officiated by Rev. Amy Lincoln, will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 12 Noon in the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ. The calling hours will be from 10:30 AM to 12 Noon prior to the service in the church. Interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Capner Street, Flemington, NJ will be private.
