Thelma Kostak

February 17, 1942 — October 7, 2020

Thelma Kostak, age 78 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at her home. Born in Inverness, Scotland, February 17, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Jane McLeod MacDonald. She had resided in Delaware Township for the past fifty-one years. She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Michael J. Kostak; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael Kostak and Lisa Caroselli of Basking Ridge, NJ; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Chris Thatcher of Flemington, NJ; her daughter, Renee Schumann of Flemington, NJ; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Brian Rozycki of Pittstown, NJ; and her daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Briand Jones of Glen Gardner, NJ; her eleven grandchildren: Nicole, and husband, Stephen, Kaila, Evan, Michelle, Stephanie, Tyler, Jordan, Thomas, Tanner, Brooke, and Brielle; her two great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Laney; her dogs Abbi and Precious; and her Amazon parrot Poncho. Thelma was a loving mother and grandmother who never missed a singing birthday call, holiday party, or just a call just to say, "Hello." She was selfless, gentle, warm, and had a strong sensation for life. Besides her overwhelming love for her family and friends, she also had a passion for animals of all kinds. Birds, goats, sheep, horses, cows, and even emu's spent years of their life lucky enough to live on Thelma's property under her care. If you were lucky enough, you may even catch her running after one of them down the road when they got loose. She loved to have family and friends over to her home, especially for holiday gatherings and birthday celebrations. Her famous Christmas Eve parties and Easter Egg Hunts will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends and be carried on by her children and grandchildren for years to come. It was all about her family and creating everlasting memories to reflect upon and get a chuckle from. In her many times spent in the hospital, she was often put on special watch due to her occasional habit of trying to get her grandchildren to sneak her out of the hospital in a get-a-way car. Even when she was down, she was never out. We truly thought she would live forever. Funeral services and interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 215 Route 31 South Flemington, NJ 08822.
