Thomas Charles Quick, age 80, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.
Tom was born May 4, 1935, the son of the late Theodore and Josephine (Seipp) Quick in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, NY. In his youth, Tom was a tremendous athlete, playing and coaching neighborhood championship basketball teams. He also played softball and was a championship bowler for over 40 years with the Western Electric Co. and AT&T bowling teams in New York City. Tom was a life-long and avid New York Yankees fan.
Tom served his country in the Army and National Guard from 1957 through 1963. He worked for Western Electric and then AT&T as a Facilities Manager for different locations in New York, as well as in Berkeley Heights and Liberty Corner, NJ. After retirement, he was a dedicated volunteer at the Hunterdon Medical Center for 16 years, where he worked in the Transport Group.
Tom is survived by his wife, Karen, his dear friends and several cousins. He and Karen were married in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Bay Ridge Brooklyn on September 11, 1965, they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September. He was a good and honorable man, who cherished deeply and was a role model to his family and friends in the manner in which he handled his illnesses. He will be deeply missed.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2015, officiated by the Rev. James DeVries at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Cremation and interment will follow at a later date. Viewing will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
