Thomas Edward Nemec

Thomas Edward Nemec, age 77 years, of Sergeantsville, NJ, died of multiple health ailments on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at his home. Born in Binghamton, NY, June 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Susan Sedor Nemec. Mr. Nemec was a United States Army veteran and also served in the Army Reserve serving from 1959-1963. He retired from Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, Clinton, NJ in 1997 after twenty-seven years of service as an Institutional Trade Instructor. He had formerly worked at SBS. Tom enjoyed camping, fishing, and tinkering together with his wife in his beloved home. Most of all, he loved reading, and amassed a collection of thousands of mystery books, many of them rare or first editions, all of which he read. Tom married the former Linda Lee Hoffman on April 24, 1965. She predeceased him in 1995. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter T. and Melissa Nemec of Flemington, NJ and Michael S. and Dawn Nemec of La Selva Beach, CA; a brother, William Nemec of Ringoes, NJ; and four grandchildren: Robert Schenck, Linda, Julia, and Harrison Nemec. The family would like to thank all of those who have been a part of Tom’s life through the years, especially the many caretakers, friends and neighbors who came together to aid him during his long illness. Family and friends, distant and near, past and present, have all contributed to Tom’s life in one way or another. “Ornery or not, Manure occurath.” Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, from 6-8 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
