Thomas F. Holcombe, age 78 years, of Mt. Airy, NJ (West Amwell Township), died Thursday, September 30, 2021, at his home on the farm where he and his family had resided for six generations.
He was born in Trenton, NJ, May 27, 1943, and was the son of the late Harold and Mary Farlee Holcombe.
Tom was a lifelong farmer and was a 1962 graduate of Hunterdon Central Regional High School, Flemington, NJ, where he played football.
Tom loved the antique machinery show, Titusville, NJ, trips to Lancaster, PA to see the farms there, and travelling around his native Hunterdon County. In addition, he enjoyed going to Hot Rods Hot Dogs, Glen Gardner, NJ and finally, was always willing to help anyone, especially those in need.
He was a lifelong member of the West Amwell Township Fire Department; a member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau; was formerly active in the Mt. Airy 4-H Club, and the Future Farmers of America. Tom was also a former member of the Lambertville-New Hope Jaycees.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-three years, Sharon Ashton Holcombe; his sons, Thomas Holcombe II and Scott A. Holcombe and his wife, Sarah; and three grandchildren, Ashlyn Holcombe, Madelyn Holcombe and Kamryn Holcombe, who represent the seventh and eighth generations of his family residing on the family farm. He is also survived by several cousins as well as his sister-in-law, Judith Furch, of Washington Crossing, PA and his brother-in-law, Vic Reed, of Green Valley, AZ.
Public graveside services officiated by Rev. David Errickson will be held Monday, October 4, 2021, at 11:00 AM in Mt. Airy Presbyterian Cemetery, 37 Mount Airy Village Road, Mount Airy, NJ. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
Memorial contributions in Tommy’s name may be made to the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad, 70 Alexander Avenue, Lambertville, NJ 08530, or the West Amwell Volunteer Fire Company, 26 Mt. Airy Village Road, Lambertville, NJ 08530.
