Thomas F. Mroz

Thomas F. Mroz, age 85 years, of Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at his home. Born in Manville, NJ on September 7, 1936, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Pauline Waida Mroz. He had resided in Hunterdon County, NJ since 1963. After graduating from Dunellen High School, he became a skilled union mason out of Local 26 in Somerville. He enlisted in the United States Army, something he was always proud of, in 1961. He was in the Army from 1961 to 1963 where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. After his military service, he returned to masonry and eventually retired from the profession in 1999. Throughout his life he loved woodworking, hunting, fishing, being outdoors and fixing anything and everything. In retirement he loved spending time with his grandchildren, Alison and Michael. Additionally, some of his other hobbies included listening to country music, especially Hank Williams, Sr., and growing fig trees. He was known for making “the best” cookies, pickles and jerky that were enjoyed by many of his friends and family. He also loved sitting back and drinking his Polish blackberry brandy after a long day. He was predeceased by his wife of fifty-three years, Susan M. Mroz; as well as two brothers, David and Paul Mroz. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lisa Mroz, of Pittstown, NJ; his two grandchildren, Alison Mroz, of Albany, NY and Michael Mroz, of Pittstown, NJ; as well as his brother, John Mroz, of Manville, NJ. Tom was a member of Our Lady of Victories Church in Baptistown, NJ and a private memorial mass is being planned there for a later date. Tom drove for the local Meals on Wheels organization and memorial contributions in his name may be made to Meals On Wheels, 5 Walter E Foran Blvd Suite 2006, Flemington, NJ 08822.
