Thomas I. Burgenga, age 88 years, of Pennington, NJ, died on Sunday, August 1, 2004 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Ridgewood, NJ, December 6, 1915, son of the late Klaus and Gertrude DeVries Burenga, he had formerly resided in Sergeantsville, NJ, then in Pennington, NJ for thirty-five years, then in Cape Coral, FL and Ocala, FL, respectively before returing to reside in Pennington in 2003.
He was formerly a machinist at DeLaval, Trenton, NJ; then was a partner in the operation of Ringoes Feed Co., Ringoes, NJ, and later was a finish trimmer with Hunt & Augustine Contruction, Princeton, NJ and also with Horizon Homes, Cape Coral, FL.
At one time, Mr. Burenga was also involved with the operation of the Black River & Western Railroad, Ringoes, NJ. He was a Past Master of Ringoes Grange #12, Ringoes, NJ and was Past President of Hopewell Township Kiwanis Club.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-seven years, Florence Fisher Burenga; two sons, Thomas Burenga of Litchfield, IL and William E. Russo of Olathe, KS; two daughters, Barbara Anderson of Titusville, NJ and Beverly Burenga of Hopewell, NJ; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Union Cemetery, Ringoes, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours. Please visit www.holcombefisher.com for further information.
