Thomas J. Beetel, 74, of Raritan Township died Tuesday, Dec. 26 in his home.
He was an attorney who practiced in Lambertville before serving as a superior court judge in Hunterdon County from 1968 to 1978. After the two terms, he resumed his law practice in Flemington.
Born July 29, 1926 in Trenton, he was a son of the late Thomas and Catherine McBride Beetel. He formerly resided in Lambertville for 25 years before moving to Raritan Township 15 years ago.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a graduate of Seton Hall University and Rutgers Law School.
He was a member of the Flemington VFW Post No. 7856 and the Flemington American Legion Post No. 1959.
He was a member of the Flemington Lions Club, the Flemington Elks Lodge No. 1928 and the Flemington Knights of Columbus.
He was a member of the Order of Hibernians of Hamilton Township, N.J., and active for many years in the Democratic Party of Hunterdon County.
He is survived by a daughter, Meghan Nicoletti of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother, Chris of Reading; two grandsons; and a friend and companion, Cathy Berrien of Flemington.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Magdelan Church, 105 Mine St., Flemington. Call 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Trenton.
