Thomas J. Maring ll, age 72 years, of Hillsborough Township, NJ died on Friday, November 19, 2021, at RWJ University Hospital Somerset, Somerville, NJ.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 20, 1949, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Ellen Eagan Maring. He had resided in New Jersey for the last thirty years, having previously resided in Bay Ridge, NY.
Mr. Maring served in the US Army and fought in the Vietnam War. During his time there he worked with the DOD as an electrical communication contractor through the fall of Saigon as a non-combatant civilian. He continued serving in that capacity around the world on American installations through the 1980's.
He then went on to work for First Chicago International Bank in New York, and as a self-employed engineer most of his career.
He was a dedicated, hard-working, beloved grandfather, who coached youth softball and basketball and enjoyed working on cars and all sorts of equipment. Additionally, he was full of sarcastic, dry humor, and could always be seen with an Arizona Iced Tea in hand. Finally, his family remembers that if someone needed help, he was always there to lend a hand.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael Maring; his brother, Robert Maring; and his sisters, Valerie Maring, Marguerite Gail Maring and Joyce Maring-Voci.
Surviving are his five children: Thomas Maring lll, James Maring, John Maring, Kim Hopson, and Christopher Maring; six grandchildren, as well as his siblings, Russell Maring, Leigh Maring, and Andrea Maring.
A livestreamed memorial service will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 12 Noon in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
