Valerie M. Mitala, age 80 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in St. Helier, Isle of Jersey, UK, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Lillian (Renouf) Bottrel. She had previously resided in Mercer County, NJ before moving to Hunterdon County, NJ in 2004.
As a young woman, she was formerly employed by Procter & Gamble. She then went on to work for the New Jersey Department of Labor in budgeting and accounting, until her retirement after twenty-five years.
She loved dogs, playing bingo and cards, and venturing to the beach, especially Point Pleasant, NJ down the Jersey Shore. In addition, Valerie was a social butterfly and enjoyed going out and mixing with her friends over lunch and dinner.
Surviving are her loving son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Jennifer Giordano of Ringoes, NJ; two grandchildren, Alexa and Justin Giordano; five siblings, Michael Bottrel and his wife Nancy of Milford, NJ, Pam Wood of Lebanon, PA, Louis Bottrel of Piscataway, NJ, Graham Bottrel and his wife Diane of Levittown, PA, and Edward Bottrel and his wife Emily of Flemington, NJ; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. A brief service will follow the gathering in the funeral home at noon. Interment will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Home For Good Dog Rescue, Inc., 465 Springfield Avenue, Berkeley Heights, NJ 07922.
