Vera Avoglia

Vera Avoglia, age 87, died Monday, May 25, 2015, at her home in Rosemont, NJ, surrounded by her family.

Born August 5, 1927, in Jersey City, NJ, Vera was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Rose (Angersola) DeLorenzi. She was raised in Union City, graduated from Holy Rosary High School, and later married the late Louis G. Avoglia. Together they moved to Lodi, NJ, where Vera remained until moving to Delaware Township, NJ in 2001.

Vera and Louis travelled throughout the United States, especially to Lake George, NY, and Ship Bottom on Long Beach Island. A homemaker, she loved to cook and spend time with her family.

Predeceased by her parents and her husband, Louis, in 1987, Vera is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Leo Gates of Rosemont, NJ, her grandson, Keith Santana of Flagler Beach FL, her grandson and his wife, Kristopher and Kristin Santana of Ringoes, NJ, her great grandsons, Xanthus and Tristan Santana, and Sebastian Shaber, as well as her Godmother and her husband, June and James Sokolich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 44 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530. Interment will follow in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
