Vera P. Burns, age 92 years, of Flemington, NJ, died on Monday, April 11, 2005 at Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ, January 10, 1913, daughter of the late Anthony and Irene Pavia, she had formerly resided in Chatham, Basking Ridge, Morristown, Pottersville and Whitehouse, NJ respectively before moving to Flemington in 1972.
A graduate of Montclair State Teachers College, Montclair, NJ, Mrs. Burns was a former physical education teacher at Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child, Summit, NJ and St. Elizabeth College, Convent Station, NJ. She later owned the Tally-Ho Tavern, Whitehouse, NJ and also was a substitute teacher for the Fleminton-Raritan Schools and the Morris Township Schools.
Her first husband, Christopher Wuest, died over twenty years ago, and her second husband, John Burns, died in 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Christa Fletcher of Flemington, NJ and Catherine Wuest of San Francisco, CA; two gradchildren, Victoria Campbell of Spring Hill, FL and Angelique Sinka of Hellertown, PA; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
Entombment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum, Newark, NJ. Calling hours will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
