Virginia D. Kerr

Virginia D. “Ginny” Kerr died on April 25, 2017, at Hunterdon Care Center, Flemington. She was 88.

Born in Lambertville on June 23, 1928, she was the daughter of Bartholomew Dooley and Augusta Ambrosat Dooley. She was raised in Rosemont and moved to Flemington following World War II, where she resided until her death.

Her working life began with the Flemington Fur Company and, following time as a homemaker and mother, continued as a long-time waitress at the Union Hotel. She retired in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bernard J. “Red" Kerr; her brother-in-law, Raymond P. Kerr and his wife Dorothy Kerr; her sister-in-law, Stephanie “Penny” Kerr, and her brother-in-law, William Ryan.

Surviving are her two sons, Bernard Jr. and his wife Sue, of Belleville, Ill. and Raymond and his wife Melody of Lambertville; three grandsons, Bradley and his wife Jessica and Brent of Belleville, IL, and Brian and his wife Teri of Edwardsville, IL; one granddaughter, Brittney Odle and her husband Christopher of Belleville, IL; six great-grandchildren, Brice, Brady and Braxton Kerr and Bellamy Odle of Belleville, IL and Brenna and Brandon Kerr of Edwardsville, IL; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Ryan of Rotunda, Florida and Florence Knoster and her husband Christian of Sergeantsville; one brother-in-law, Joseph R. Kerr Jr. of Flemington; and loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington, with graveside services to follow at Rosemont Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow at the Sergeantsville United Methodist Church where Ginny and her late husband Red were married in 1948.
