Vladimir John Cadra, age 83, died Friday, March 7, 2014 at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hillsborough, NJ.
Born April 2, 1930, to the late Ivan and Elizabeth (Dugacek) Cadra in New York City, he graduated from Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan and then received a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from New York University. He worked for RCA Corp. for many years on many Defense Contracts for projects of the United States Government. He also served his country in the US Marines during the Korean War.
As a member of the Bethany Church in New York, he met many friends with whom he maintained long-term relationships. He and his wife, Lillian moved to the Flemington area during his work at RCA, where John became involved as a Deacon and Elder with the Flemington Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing the violin in his youth and enjoyed being part of his son's model rocket launch team later in life.
John was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Lillian (Beyer) in 2002, and by his sister, Olga Hart. He is survived by his daughter, Caren Cadra and her partner, Ed Janos of Basking Ridge NJ; his son, Peter and his wife, Rachael Cadra of Hillsborough NJ; his granddaughter, Hillary Cadra, his grandsons, Conor and Manuel Cadra, and his nieces, Elizabeth Kern and Margaret Franklin.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, March 11th at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Interment will take place in Neshanic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John's name may be made to the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
