W. Frederick Homiller, 74, of Neshanic Station, New Jersey passed away at home, Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Fred was born and raised in Abington, PA. He resided in Neshanic Station, NJ for the past 47 years. He was the son of Walter and Ethel Homiller of Abington, PA.
Fred graduated from Abington High School and received his BS from West Chester University and then served in the US Army from 1965 to 1967, in Korea, as SP/5, a Field Artillery Specialist having won the National Defense Service Award along with many other Marksmanship awards. He began his teaching career in 1969 with the Edison Township Board of Education and was a Health and Physical Education Teacher for 40 years. Fred was also a wrestling coach for many years during that time. He also owned and operated Brush Nā Broom Chimney Sweep for 35 years in Neshanic Station, NJ.
Fred was an avid outdoorsman enjoying running, cycling, and tennis. Most important to him, was his family. He touched the many lives and hearts of his students that he taught with his gentle kindness and support.
He is survived by his son, Brian Frederick Homiller and Kristl Homiller of Kansas City, MO and his daughter, Lisa Dawn Heider and Everett Heider of Neshanic Station, NJ, and three beloved grandchildren, Madison, Skylar, and Tyler and his nephews. He is also survived by his sister Elaine and Richard Bell of Lititz, PA, and his caring and loving friend, Gwendolyn Homiller.
A prayer service officiated by the Rev. Michael Atzert will be 8 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Fred will be buried with military honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA, on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
