Walter C. Hofmann, of Berkeley Township, NJ, died on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, March 2, 1924, son of the late Herman and Mary Mullins Hofmann. He had resided in Berkeley Township for sixteen years and formerly resided in Ozone Park, NY for forty-seven years.
An electrician and telephone installer, he was formerly employed for twenty-two years by the New York Telephone Company and later by New York Transit Authority for twenty years.
He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and was a former member of the Holy Name Society.
His wife of sixty years, Harriet Allgeier Hofmann, died in 2009. Surviving are two sons, Alan W. Hofmann of Flemington, NJ, and Raymond J. Hofmann of Mountainside, NJ; a daughter, Karen B. Visone of East Meadow, NY; four grandchildren: Michael and Jennie Hofmann, and Kristina and Michele Visone; and two great-grandchildren, Krystal Visone and Sean Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will be in St. Magdalen Mausoleum, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Sunday, June 12, 2011, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
