Walter N. Henry

May 6, 1933 — August 27, 2001

Walter N. Henry, a retired carpenter of Greeneville, died Aug. 27 at his home.

Mr. Henry was born in Ringoes, N.J., and was a son of the late Catherine Henry and the late Norman Henry.

He grew up in Flemington, N.J., and had lived in Portland, Pa., and Blairstown, N.J. prior to moving to Greeneville.

Mr. Henry became a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local #23 in Dover, N.J., Aug. 3, 1965, transferring his membership to Local #399 in Phillipsburg, N.J., and retired as a member of Local #620 in Madison, N.J.

He was a U.S. Army Signal Corps veteran, having served as a cryptographer in Asmara, Ethiopia, for three years.

The family said he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife: June E. (Steckel) Henry; four children: Walter J. Henry of Bethlehem, Pa., Deborah Kiehna of Greeneville, Eileen Henry Evans of Easton, Pa., and Robin Henry of Hummelstown, Pa.; two stepdaughters: Terry Crisman of Blairstown, and Virginia Akers of Jonesborough; four grandchildren: James Michael Henry, Matthew Kiehna, Meghan Kiehna, and Josie Henry; four stepgrandchildren: Harry Akers, Shawn Akers, Michelle Crisman, and John Crisman; and two stepgreat-grandchildren: J.C. Crisman and Jeanette Crisman.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Walter N. Henry.

A graveside service was held Thursday at Riegelsville Union Cemetery in Riegelsville, Pa.

Kiser Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
