Walter Raymond (Ray) Garrett, age 90 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Sunday, December 6, 2009 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Bloomfield, NJ, January 30, 1919, son of the late Walter Kennard and Maude Mary Shuttleworth Garrett, he had resided in Raritan Township for the past three years, having formerly lived in Blairsville, GA and Greece, NY.
A Master Sergeant in United States Army during World War II, Mr. Garrett served as a Medic. After being honorably discharged, he went on to teach radiography for the Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, NY.
He was a member of Clio Lodge 779, F.& A.M. in Hilton, NY. Additionally, Mr. Garrett served as a Past President of the ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing).
His wife of fifty-five years, Lydia Ann Stelling Garrett, died in 2001. He was also pre-deceased by sister, Joan Gostkowski.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynn (Dennis) McCrossen and their children, Julie and Mark, and Dale (Alexander) Edwards and their children, Kimber and Stacey; a son, Alan (Patricia) Garrett and their children, Emily and Anna; five great grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy Wengland, Hazel Lippincott and Ruth Pfizenmaier.
