Walter S. Robinson, age 85 years, of Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at his residence.
Born in Elkton, MD, July 22, 1920, son of the late Samuel Voshelle and Essie L. Tweed Robinson, he had resided in Franklin Township since 1964, having resided in Hunterdon County since 1946.
Mr. Robinson grew up in Newark, DE before moving to Hillside, NJ. A 1939 graduate of Hillside High School, he played football for the Hillside Huskies and was a pitcher for the Hillside Baseball team.
A United States Army Veteran of World War II, achieving the rank of Sergeant, Mr. Robinson went on to become a partner in R & R Accountacy, Clinton, NJ for over fifty years.
He formerly was a Coach for the North Hunterdon Little League, the Clinton Little Bigger League and the Clinton Tri-County Baseball League. Mr. Robinson was a member of the John Birch Society; a member of Oak Hill Golf Club, Holland Township, NJ; and a longtime member of the Clinton Presbyterian Church, Clinton, NJ.
His wife, Dorothy G. Davenport Robinson, died in 2002. Surviving are three daughters, Judy Ader of Washington, NJ, Joyce DiPietro and husband Anthony, Sr. of Franklin Tonwship, NJ, and Jill and husband Richard Prakopcyk of Asbury, NJ; a brother, Granville Robinson of Annandale, NJ; a sister, Marialice DeCleene of Union Township, NJ; seven grandchildren, Renee Ader, Patrick DiPietro, Scott and wife Pam DiPietro, Anthony Jr. and wife Lisa DiPietro, and Jessica, Daniel and Benjamin Prakopcyk; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jacqui and Megan DiPietro. Another brother, Jack Robinson of Hopewell, NJ, died earlier.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Clinton Presbyterian Church, Center Street, Clinton, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Clinton, NJ. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
