William C. McCreery, Jr., age 85 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at his residence.

Born in Readington Township, NJ, July 16, 1922, son of the late William C. and Elida Brewery McCreery, Sr., he had resided in Raritan Township forty-four years.

He owned and operated W. McCreery & Son Plumbing & Heating, Flemington, NJ until retiring in 1984. A United States Navy Veteran of World War II, he served on the carrier, Intrepid, and served in the Navy from 1942-1945.

A member of the Three Bridges Reformed Church, Three Bridges, NJ, he was Past President of the Flemington Lions Club, Past President of the Chamber of Commerce, life member of both the American Legion Post #159 of Flemington and the Flemington Elks Lodge #1928, a member of V.F.W. Post #7856 of Flemington and was a member of the Masons. Additionally, he was Past President of the Raritan Township Republican Club and was a member of the Intrepid World War II Association.

He was pre-deceased by a step-son, George Toles, a sister, Hazel Craig and a brother, Wilbur McCreery.

Surviving are his wife of forty-eight years, Nell Emery McCreery; a son, William McCreery III of Easton, PA; a daughter, Cheryl Cox of Flemington, NJ; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Three Bridges Cemetery, Three Bridges, NJ.
