William Charles Kimler, age 92, died Thursday, November 23, 2023 at his home in Tobyhanna PA surrounded by his family.
Born May 26, 1931, in Newark NJ, Bill was the son of the late William James and Muriel (Jones) Kimler. He grew up in Newark and was the quarterback of his high school football team. He lived in Newark until 1961 when he moved to Edison for 4 years, moving to So. Plainfield in 1965 and then to Neshanic Station in 1976. After retirement, he moved to the Poconos where he has lived for almost 40 years, first in Long Pond and eventually to Tobyhanna PA.
Bill served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Bill became a Patrolman for 28 years with the Newark (NJ) Police Department.
A good provider for his family, Bill enjoyed keeping his bountiful garden, where he grew vegetables, flowers, and trees. He was a handyman and loved to fix things around the house. He made many birdhouses, tables and other furniture for use in his home, many of which are still in use today. In his spare time, Bill often would be found watching his favorites sports teams, the New York Yankees and the NY Football Giants, taking in an episode of the original Star Trek series or possibly watching a favorite Clint Eastwood or Charles Bronson movie.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Joyce (Schlosser) Kimler in 2002, his son, William C. Kimler, Jr. in 1981, his grandson, Markie Kimler, and five of his siblings. He is survived by his son, James Hogan of Alabama, his daughters, Deborah Radican and Elsa Kimler, both of Tobyhanna PA, and his daughter, Patricia Ceiswich of North Carolina, as well as his grandson and his wife, Robert P. and Donielle Mozelesky of Saylorsburg PA, his two great-granddaughters, Cassidy and Madyison Mozelesky, as well as his brother, Ray Kimler and his sister, Margaret.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery in Flemington. Calling hour will be Wednesday from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
