William “Doc” George Schottman, III, age 75 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Irvington, NJ, April 9, 1948, he was the son of the late William George Schottman, Jr. and Margaret Winkelmann Schottman.
A United States Navy Veteran, William worked as Chief of Corrections for the Hunterdon County Jail for many years.
Doc enjoyed fishing, and was a World of Outlaws sprint car racing enthusiast! Doc was known by many in his town for his friendly demeanor and genuine spirit. He loved walking his big chocolate lab Sadie all around Flemington. Doc and Sadie made many friends along their route, even bringing extra treats for dogs they would meet along the way. He loved his 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass that he bought brand new and prided himself that it was all original. He enjoyed taking his car to the Flemington Main Street car show.
Surviving are his wife Patricia Schottman; three daughters, Jamie Lynn Schottman, Michelle Schottman Scott and her husband, Bill, and Amanda Holly Simonet and her husband, Justin; four grandchildren, Ashley Bentham, Alissa Bentham, Maxwell Bentham, and Holly June Simonet; one great-grandchild, Avia Bentham; and two brothers, Robert Schottman and Thomas Schottman.
Military honors presented by the United States Navy will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 12:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM in the funeral home.
