William H. Hoge, Ph.D., age 82 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Monday, October 6, 2008 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

He was born in New Knoxville, Ohio to Arthur F. Hoge and Meta Meckstroth Hoge. He did his undergraduate work at Ohio State University and received his Master’s and Ph.D. from the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton, Wisconsin. He worked at various paper companies in New Product development for which he received numerous patents.

He was a member of TAPPI and other technical organizations and Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of Copper Hill Country Club. He was a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church where he had sung in the Choir for thirty years.

Survivors are his wife of fifty-seven years, Shirley Buesing Hoge; two sons, Daniel and wife Ann of Houston, TX and Kurt and wife Debra of Upper Black Eddy, PA; one daughter, Kay, of Flemington, NJ; three granddaughters; and a brother, John Hoge of New Knoxville, OH.

Another brother, Dean, of Tacoma Park, MD, died September 13 of this year.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, OCTOBER 17, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment was private in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
