William Henry Reiter, 76, passed at home surrounded by family and friends on January 9, 2021.
He was born on October 18, 1944 in Somerville, New Jersey, the son of the late Robert and Mary (Chlup) Reiter. Bill spent his life in East Amwell growing up on a dairy farm and continued to farm for the rest of his life.
Bill was a lifetime member of both the Amwell Valley Fire Company and the Amwell Valley Rescue Squad, and a member of the Amwell Lodge #12 in Lambertville NJ. He served on the East Amwell Township School Board and the East Amwell Environmental Commission. He drove a school bus for Hunterdon Central Regional High School between his farm chores. Bill loved flying and had a commercial pilot’s license from Burnside Ott Aviation flight school in Opalacka, Florida.
Bill served as the Farm Manager for the Doris Duke Estate in Hillsborough for several years and was also an EMT for Eagle Medical Transport (later Atlantic Rescue) in Pittstown, New Jersey.
Bill was a free-spirited person who enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by his family and friends, especially at Twin Brook Farm.
Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Ann Russo, and his children, William J. Reiter and Kristin L. Reiter, his beloved grandson, Benjamin Dylan Reiter, his brothers and their spouses, Robert Wolf and Victoria Reiter, Roger H. and Lysa Reiter, and his sister, Loretta G. Reiter and Kris Knaack, as well as his niece, Ruby and his nephew, Jackson.
