William J. Reid, Jr., age 87 years, of Raritan Township, NJ died on Sunday, August 30, 2020 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Staten Island, NY on March 16, 1933, he was the son of the late Mary Cairn and William J. Reid, Sr. He had formerly resided in Roselle, NJ before moving to Hunterdon County six years ago.
Mr. Reid was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving his country from 1952-1956. His service was something he was immensely proud of; he would always stand and salute the flag when he had the opportunity.
Before retiring, he was employed as a production worker for the Procter & Gamble Corporation.
He was a member of the Roselle American Legion Post #229. In addition, he loved baseball and golf, liked to sing a tune, and loved traveling to the beach.
William is predeceased by one daughter, Linda Carver, who died in 2016.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Agnes (Letellier) Reid, of Raritan Township, NJ; his two daughters, Susan Coladonato, of Freehold, NJ and Karen Davis, of Flemington, NJ; his five grandchildren, Jason, Christine, Dylan, Lauren, and Brianna; and his two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Liliana.
A private service with military honors will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in William’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10001.
