William Moisio passed away October 23, 2013 at the age of 91.
Bill was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on August 13, 1922, the son of Emil and Maria Moisio. He began his career in shipping on the Great Lakes and served in the Merchant Marines on the North Atlantic during World War II. He graduated from the U.S. Maritime Service Officers School at Fort Trumbull, Connecticut, received his master’s license at the age of 28, and was captain of ocean freighters for Prudential Steamship Corp.
He married Aurelia Guia Schreiber on July 16, 1952. Bill was a man of integrity and strong character, highly respected by his family, friends, and colleagues.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his siblings, Aileen Kendall, Eino Moisio, Ellen Acierno, Ed Moisio, and Jennie Erickson. He is survived by his son, Ronald Schreiber and wife Elizabeth; daughter, Michele Thomas and husband Gene; grandchildren, Ronald Schreiber and wife Jacqueline, Keith Schreiber and wife Margaret, Jacob Thomas, Nathaniel Thomas and wife Christine, Elizabeth Thomas and David Thomas; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Lincoln Schreiber.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26 at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio, where friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 until the service.
