William L. Johnston, age 87 years, of Three Bridges, NJ, died Friday, May 29, 2015, at his home.
Born in New York City, NY, August 12, 1927, son of the late William and Florilla Thomas Johnston, he formerly resided in Edison, NJ and Staten Island, NY.
A World War II United States Navy Veteran, William was a commercial artist for Graphic Studios, New York City, NY.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 159 in Flemington, NJ and a member of the United Methodist Church, Flemington, NJ.
He is pre-deceased by one brother, Charles Johnston.
Surviving are his loving wife of sixty years, Virginia Johnston; three daughters, Elizabeth Brohm of Warwick, NY, Elaine Martin of Readington, NJ and Ann Marie Hawryluk of Port Charlotte, FL; one son, Peter Johnston of Three Bridges, NJ, and seven grandchildren, Kathryn, Laura, Lena, Christopher, Jonathan, Kyle, and Timothy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at 11:00 AM in the Flemington United Methodist Church, 116 Main St, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Visitation will be held on Thursday in Church from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in William’s name may be made to the Flemington United Methodist Church , 116 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822, Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822 or the American Legion Post 112, 232 Union Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876.
