FLEMINGTON, N.J. - William Pendleton Orrick, 93, of Flemington, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in Flemington.
Born in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Nanny Oliver Bentley and Jesse Lewis Orrick.
He was a 1924 graduate of St. James School and a 1936 graduate of Trinity College.
He taught at St. James School and was its athletic director from 1926 to 1935. He also taught and coached football at Trinity College and taught at Solebury School.
After retirement he was vice president of the American Field Service from 1968 to 1977; escort of the U.S. Department of State International Visitors' Program in 1979; and director of archives for the American Field Service from 1980 to 1996.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He also flew Adm. "Bull" Halsey on his U.S. farewell tour. He was awarded the Air Medal with Citation.
He was a member of Delta Psi (St. Anthony's Hall).
He is survived by his second wife, Kathryn Orrick; three daughters, Margaret Hayt, Nancy Bird and Jessica James Bentley; a son, William Pendleton II; two stepchildren, Richard Duffy and Bronwyn Duffy; a sister, Lucy Bolling; and four grandsons.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at Solebury School in New Hope, Pa.
A family memorial service will be held in Cumberland in the Spring.
