William Paul Tinnes of Pittstown, NJ went home to the Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the age of 93.
He was born at his home, Highland Farm in Pittstown, NJ to the late Michael and Susanna Farr Tinnes, and was one of twelve children. “Farmer Bill” was a dairyman who saw service in the Pacific theater during World War II. On March 20, 1954 he married Elizabeth M. Hensel of Delaware Township.
Bill was a member of the Cherryville Baptist Church in Flemington, NJ where he served for many years as a Trustee. He was also a founding member of the Guinea Hollow Rod and Gun Club in Pittstown. He continued to actively farm throughout Franklin Township until 2012, when he “retired.”
He is survived by his wife Betty Tinnes; one sister, Rose Hayes of Clinton, NJ; his children Wendy Tinnes and Chet Kepczynski both of Pittstown, NJ and Kim Tinnes and Donna Carroll of Groveville, NJ; and his grandson Kyle Tinnes also of Pittstown, NJ; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews throughout the country.
Funeral Services officiated by Pastor Tom Roberts will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Cherryville Baptist Church, Cherryville, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to Woodlands Wildlife Refuge, 676 County Road 513, Pittstown, NJ 08867 or Cherryville Baptist Church, 594 Cherryville Road, Flemington, NJ 08822.
