William Sobchik

William Sobchik, age 83, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Kindred Hospital New Jersey in Dover Township, NJ. Born November 8, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late John Sobchik and Estelle Levensky. Bill was raised in the Bronx and joined the United States Air Force as a Navigator during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Japan for two years. During his service in the military, he worked in Washington DC for the Federal Government in Intelligence. Bill spent most of his career working in the automotive industry as a salesperson, retiring in 2001 from Rockland Auto in Nanuet, NY. He was a Freemason, was great with his hands and very handy, completing many projects as a carpenter and painter. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy (Vicari) Sobchik, of Stewartsville, NJ, his son and daughter-in-law, William and Vicky Sobchik of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Chris DeVincenzo of Flemington, NJ, and his two granddaughters, Marissa and Brianna DeVincenzo. Funeral service and entombment with Military Honors at St. Magdalen Mausoleum will be private and under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
