William V. Godley, age 95 years, of Warminster, PA, died Friday, July 6, 2018, at Ann’s Choice at Warminster, where he had resided since 2013.
Born in Orange, NJ, April 20, 1923, son of the late Floyd and Cornelia Hermann Godley, Bill had resided in Ringoes, NJ most of his life until moving to Warminster in 2013.
Bill was a 1940 graduate of Flemington High School and was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in the North African Campaign, Europe and the Middle East.
He worked in the tire business from 1940-2001, becoming sole owner of Volk Tire in Trenton, NJ in 1979. Bill was a hard worker, was honest and fair and never had a bad word to say about anyone.
He is described by his wife as the “best person in the world”. She fell in love with him as she watched how he treated people, especially his employees.
He’d do anything for anyone and was especially generous to people in their time of need.
He loved animals, dogs, cats, grand dogs, all living creatures, so much so that house spiders would simply be picked up and escorted outside, out of harms way. His children can attest to the fact that he is a one armed fly catcher with precision!
The Godleys would like to thank Loving Arms Elder Care in Warminster, PA for their loving care and support.
His first wife, Mary L. Godley, to whom he was married for twenty-five years, died in 1975.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Phyllis Labella Godley; a son William V. Godley, Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of Woodleaf, NC; two daughters, Lynne Cucco and her husband, Paul, of Flemington, NJ and Linda Ryan and her husband, John, of Lawrenceville, NJ; ten grandchildren, Liza Cucco, Sara Dickinson, Laura Cucco, Rebecca Brenner, Mary Godley, Jamie Phear, William V. Godley III, Megan Ryan, Hannah Ryan and Paul Cucco; and three great grandchildren, Henry Dickinson, John Dickinson and Asher Brenner.
