Willis P. Hobbs, age 87 years, of Bridgewater Township, NJ, died on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Bridgeway Senior Care Center, Bridgewater, NJ.
Born in Arthur City, TX, March 5, 1922, he was the son of the late Henry and Myrtle Brown Hobbs. He had formerly resided in Bound Brook, NJ, Flemington, NJ, then in Lauderhill, FL, moving to Bridgewater, NJ in 2008.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, and was a retired commercial airline pilot having flown for Civil Air Transport, Korean Airlines, Phillipine Airlines, Overseas National Airway, National Airways, and Rich International.
He loved tennis and played at the Woodlands Tennis Club in Florida.
Mr. Hobbs was awarded the French Legion of Honor for his CIA services in Vietnam in the 1950's.
His wife, Norma Jean Flesner Hobbs, died in 1983. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonny and John Rupprecht of Bernardsville, NJ, and Jan Hobbs-Pellechio and Thomas Pellechio of Doylestown, PA; and four grandchildren: Chase and Dane Rupprecht and Sierra and Summer Pellechio; and a brother and sister-in-law, Henry Ray and Marietta Hobbs of Austin, TX.
Private graveside serices will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Capner Street, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours.
