Winnifred A. Lang, age 90, of Ringoes, NJ, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at home with her family by her side.
Born August 3, 1927 in Jamaica, West Indies, she was the daughter of Edgar and Winnifred (Whorms) Young. She had formerly resided in Smithtown, Long Island, before moving to Hunterdon County three years ago.
Winnifred’s journey took her from Jamaica to Montreal and then later to New York where she met her future husband, Andrew, on a tennis court in Queens.
On March 3, they celebrated fifty-six years of marriage together.
Winnifred loved spending time with her family, swimming at the beach, hiking at national parks, or just sharing a meal together. She also loved knitting, sewing, and baking.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Lynus and Vince; and two sisters, Ruth and Pat.
Winnifred is survived by her husband, Andrew; her two daughters, Lorraine Lang of South Carolina; Susan Lang-Saponara and her husband John of Ringoes, and her grandchildren, Nadia and Andrew Saponara, of Ringoes; two sisters, Genevieve De Cordova of Canada and Mary Green of Florida; a brother, Maurice Young of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Alphonsus Church, 54 East Prospect Street, Hopewell, NJ on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be held at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
